Point Guards

Mike Bibby had his best season in the NBA last year.  He started looking for his shot more and his scoring average went way up.  Bibby averaged 21.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 5.4 assists.  Bibby will never be a pass-first guy because he’s a good scorer himself.  For his career, he has averaged 16.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.4 assists and 1.3 steals per game.  Bibby is a fine basketball player and a good leader of the Kings offense.

Ronnie Price hasn’t gotten to play much in his young NBA career, so it’s hard to really tell what he could do if given minutes.  He is currently battling Jason Hart for the back-up job.

Jason Hart has been a decent back-up at the point guard position.  He is more of a pass-first type of point-guard that doesn’t look for his shot first.  Hart has played in 204 games in his career and has averaged 5.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 2.6 assists in his career to date.

Starting point guard Mike Bibby will miss the first two weeks of the NBA season with “mallet thumb”.  Bibby has a tendon detached from the bone so that he can’t fully extend it.

Eric Musselman

After a disappointing season that saw the Kings finish 44-38 and get knocked out in the first round of the playoffs, the Kings felt they needed a change.  So they fired Rick Adelman and hired Eric Musselman.  Musselman coached two seasons for the Golden State Warriors and had a record of 75-89.  Musselman favros an up-tempo game which should suit the Kings roster.  He needs to do a better job of setting an example for his players as he got a DUI last week.
