Pathetic 4th quarter loses game for Kings 101-85 to the Raptors in Toronto

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Thursday 18 January 2007 at 11:55 am

The Kings were outscored 33-16 in the 4th quarter and that’s why the Kings lost this game.  The Raptors just wanted it more that’s why they outrebounded the Kings 42-33.  Mike Bibby led the Kings with 21 points.  Ron Artest (18 points, 5 rebounds) and Kevin Martin (18 points, 6 rebounds) each helped out on offense.

Francisco Garcia regressing on the court

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 17 January 2007 at 12:06 am

Garcia looked like he would be a building block for the future of the Kings, but he’s looked anything but that this season.  His playing time is down and so is his shooting %.  Garcia has played in 31 games and is averaging 13.8 minutes, 4.2 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.7 assists this season.  He’s only shooting 39.8% from the floor and his minutes will be limited until that improves.

The Kings get nipped by the Knicks 102-97 in New York

The Kings faded in the 4th quarter and that did them in yesterday.  Kevin Martin came to play as he scored 30 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 3 assists.  He also hit 5 of 8 from three point range.  Shareef Abdur-Rahim got the start and he dominated the Knicks as he scored 25 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, dished out 4 assists, blocked 2 shots and stole the ball three times.

Kings fall in OT 115-111 to the Rockets in Sacramento

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Sunday 14 January 2007 at 3:20 pm

The Kings need to start finishing games in the 4th quarter because they should have won last night.  Ron Artest had a great game with 34 points and 4 rebounds.  Corliss Williamson had a monster game off the bench with 30 points and 12 rebounds.

The Kings need more from their point guards

Blogged under Front Page,Need to step up by Nothing but Net on Saturday 13 January 2007 at 8:32 pm

Mike Bibby has been playing this season with a bum thumb and it’s been negatively effecting his shooting touch as he’s only hit 39.2% of his shots from the floor.  The Kings need him to shoot better because he’s always been a shoot first point guard that has been an important scorer for the team.  He’s still averaging 18.2 points per game, but he’s had to gun the ball alot to get those points.  He also is averaging 3.7 rebounds, 5.8 assists and 1.2 steals per game this season.

Ronnie Price has been the backup most of the season, but he’s only playing 9.7 minutes per game.  He’s also much more interested in shooting than passing and he’s only hit 42% of his shots this season.  He’s averaging 3.4 points, 1.1 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game this season.

Jason Hart is buried on the depth chart.  He’s only played in 12 games and has averaged only 8.1 minutes per game.  For the season Hart has averaged 3.6 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.

If the Kings are going to improve on offense they need their point guards to shoot better seeing how none of them is a pure point guard.

Kings fall 95-87 to the Trailblazers in Portland

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Saturday 13 January 2007 at 1:41 pm

The Kings really turned in a dull performance last night in this loss to the young Trailblazers.  Kevin Martin led the way for the Kings with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.  Ron Artest also had a solid game with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists.

Kings suffer crushing 108-98 defeat to the Cavaliers in Sacramento

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Wednesday 10 January 2007 at 11:51 am

The Kings forgot that their are two halves to a basketball game.  In the first half the Kings pushed the Cavs around and won the half 53-38.  In the second half the Kings failed to show up as the Cavs outscored them 70-45!  Mike Bibby did a great job running the offense with 26 points, 6 assists and 3 steals.  Brad Miller had a decent game in the paint with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.  Kevin Martin also had a decent game with 23 points, 11 rebounds and 3 assists.

The Kings fell to 14-18 on the season after this devastating loss.  http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/boxscore?gameId=270109023

Kings off to disappointing start to the season

Blogged under Front Page by Nothing but Net on Tuesday 9 January 2007 at 6:59 pm

The Kings are having problems in Eric Musselman’s first season as the coach.  They are tied for last place in the Pacific Division at 14-17 and are 10 games out of first place.  The Kings have run into injury problems as Mike Bibby is the only player to play in every game this season.  Bibby has not shot well this season (38.9%) because of a bad thumb.  Kevin Martin has been great for the Kings as he’s averaging 21.2 points per game.  The Kings have a really talented and deep team, but they need everyone healthy if they’re going to make a playoff run.

Corliss Williamson playing well off the bench

Blogged under Front Page,Steppin Up by Nothing but Net on Sunday 7 January 2007 at 2:08 pm

Corliss Williamson had been the forgotten man on the bench last season, but the Kings have been hit hard with injuries and had to dig deep on the bench and Williamson has responded with strong play as of late.  In his last 6 games, Corliss has averaged 21.8 minutes per game.  He has averaged 11.3 points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game in those contests.  He should be able to keep his level of play up as long as he gets the playing time, because he used to be a real good basketball player.

Kings fall in OT 110-105 to the Trailblazers in Sacramento

Blogged under Front Page,Game Recaps by Nothing but Net on Sunday 7 January 2007 at 11:51 am

The Kings played a good game offensively, but it wasn’t enough for the Kings to win the game.  Mike Bibby led the way for the Kings with 28 points and 5 rebounds.  Ron Artest (23 points, 6 rebounds) and Kevin Martin (22 points, 6 rebounds) both added firepower to the offense.
