The Kings got this pick from the Trailblazers in the Sergio Rodriguez trade. The 22-year old Brockman is a pure power forward at 6′7″, 255 pounds. Brockman played in 131 games in four seasons at Washington and he averaged 13.8 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. The Kings needed some toughness and Brockman can bring it.

1. (23) Omri Casspi, F

The Sacramento Kings selected 21-year old forward Omri Casspi with the 23rd pick of the NBA Draft last night. Casspi played in 89 games in 4 years in the Israeli League and he averaged 10.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game. Casspi looks like he will be a project and the Kings don’t have time to wait for a player like him to develop.

1. (4) Tyreke Evans, SG/SF

Blogged under General, The Draft Report, Bloglockers, Big Kings News, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 25 June 2009 at 7:27 pm

The Kings have selected 19-year old Tyreke Evans in the first round of the NBA Draft. Evans is 6′6″, 220 pounds but he’s still a growing man. He will likely play both shooting guard and small forward for the Kings. He only stayed 1 season at Memphis State and he played in 37 games (35 starts) and he averaged 17.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists and 2.1 steals per game. Evans is a outstanding athlete who could develop into a star just like Derrick Rose from Memphis did last season when he was Rookie of the Year. This was a good pick for the rebuilding Kings as Evans has potential star power.

The Sacramento Kings acquire Sergio Rodriguez from the Trailblazers

Blogged under General, Comings & Goings, Bloglockers, Big Kings News, Front Page by alleyoop on Thursday 25 June 2009 at 7:22 pm

The Kings have acquired 23-year old point guard Sergio Rodriguez, the 38th pick in the NBA Draft and cash considerations in return for the 31st pick in the NBA Draft. Rodriguez played in 80 games (13 starts) for the Blazers last season and he averaged 15.3 minutes, 4.5 points, 1.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. He has now played in 219 games (14 starts) in his three year NBA career and he has averaged 12.4 minutes, 3.6 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. This was a good move for the Kings as Rodriguez is a untapped talent and the Kings only had to move down 7 picks to get him.
