The Kings got off to a good start in their first game without Kevin Martin as they hit 57.9% of their shots from three point range. Tyreke Evans, playing shooting guard, led the way for the Kings last night with 32 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists. Beno Udrih was solid in his first start of the year with 15 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Andres Nocioni got a rare start and he played well scoring 14 points and grabbing 5 rebounds in only 28 minutes on the court. The Kings are now 2-4 on the season.

The Sacramento Kings sign Ime Udoka

Blogged under Big Kings News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Friday 6 November 2009 at 8:39 am

The Kings have signed SG/SF Ime Udoka. Udoka played in 67 games (3 starts) last season for the Spurs and he averaged 15.4 minutes, 4.3 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game. He has now played in 227 games (78 starts) in his NBA career and he has averaged 20.4 minutes, 6.0 points, 3.2 rebounds and 1.0 assist per game. This was a good signing for the Kings as Udoka has been a solid bench player in his NBA career.

The Sacramento Kings release Desmond Mason

Blogged under Big Kings News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by alleyoop on Friday 6 November 2009 at 8:37 am

The Kings have released G/F Desmond Mason. Mason played in 5 games (4 starts) for the Kings before his release as he averaged 13.2 minutes, 2.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 0.4 assists per game. The Kings won’t miss Mason too much as he didn’t take advantage of the big chance the Kings gave him this season.

Kevin Martin of the Sacramento Kings breaks his wrist

Blogged under Big Kings News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries by alleyoop on Friday 6 November 2009 at 8:35 am

It will be interesting to see what Kevin Martin decides to do. He might try to play through this injury or he will rest it for 6-8 weeks to let it heal. If he’s smart he’ll take the time off because this kind of an injury won’t heal right if he continues playing. Martin has started all 5 games for the Kings this season and he is averaging 41.8 minutes, 30.6 points, 5.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.0 steals per game. The Kings can’t replace Martin who is by far the best player on the team.

UPDATE: Kevin Martin has elected to have the surgery to his wrist. Rookie Tyreke Evans will replace him at shooting guard and Beno Udrih will rejoin the starting lineup as the point guard.

Atlanta Hawks 113, Sacramento Kings 105

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by alleyoop on Thursday 5 November 2009 at 8:35 pm

The Kings were outscored 30-18 in the 4th quarter last night and it did them in. Kevin Martin led the way for the Kings in this game with 29 points, 11 rebounds and 2 assists. Jason Thompson was tough around the basket in this game for the Kings with 22 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals. Tyreke Evans was also busy as he finished up with 15 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. The Kings are now 1-4 on the season.

The Sacramento Kings need to get Spencer Hawes back in the starting lineup

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Steppin Up by alleyoop on Tuesday 3 November 2009 at 11:03 pm

I can’t figure out why the Kings are messing with Spencer Hawes. Starting Sean May at center is just plain stupid with Hawes coming off the bench. Hawes has played in 3 games (0 starts) this season for the Kings and he is averaging 27.0 minutes, 10.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 0.7 assists per game. Hawes is the second best player on the Kings behind Kevin Martin so the team is wasting him on the bench.

Sacramento Kings 127, Memphis Grizzlies 116

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by alleyoop on Tuesday 3 November 2009 at 8:40 am

The Kings were outrebounded 57-40 last night but it didn’t matter because they stroked 56% from behind the three point arc. Kevin Martin was outstanding last night for the Kings with 48 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Spencer Hawes was outstanding off the bench for the Kings with 22 points, 11 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 blocked shots. Beno Udrih also stepped up in this game with 16 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists in only 29 minutes on the court. Omri Casspi had another solid game off the bench for the Kings with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocked shots. The Kings are now 1-3 on the season.
