The Kings shot 53.1% from the floor last night but it just wasn’t enough to win the game. Tyreke Evans led the way for the Kings last night with 29 points, 7 rebounds and 10 assists. Beno Udrih did a good job of running the offense last night as he finished with 20 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists. Jason Thompson was tough around the basket with 18 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. The Kings are now 5-6 on the year.

Sacramento Kings 87, Chicago Bulls 101

The Sacramento Kings (5-5) had 21 turnovers and lost to the Chicago Bulls (6-4) at home Tuesday night.  Jason Thompson had a bad game for the Kings, turning the ball over 7 times and finishing with only 8 points and 5 fouls.  He did have 9 rebounds, but he needs to take care of the ball better and not foul so much.  The Kings let the Bulls bench get way too many points, as Bulls reserve guard Jannero Pargo lit them up in the second quarter for 12 points.  They also let Brad Miller get 11 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists in only 22 minutes.  Tyreke Evans fared very well against fellow former Memphis phenom Derrick Rose, playing 42 minutes and finishing with 20 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 blocks, and 2 steals.  The Kings need to do a better job shutting down opposing team’s bench players, because when you give up 31 bench points you are not giving yourself a very good chance at winning.

The Sacramento Kings look like they did an outstanding job last June

Blogged under General, Bloglockers, Rookie Report, Front Page by alleyoop on Monday 16 November 2009 at 5:39 pm

The Kings look like they did a great job last June in the NBA Draft and it’s already starting to pay off. 20-year old SG/PG Tyreke Evans has been solid this season for the Kings from Day #1. Evans has played in 9 games (all starts) this season for the Kings and he is averaging 33.4 minutes, 16.8 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.3 assits and 1.4 steals per game. He has a huge upside and will likely be starting for the Kings for a long, long time. 21-year old small forward Omri Casspi is also looking like a great pick for the Kings. He has played in 8 games (0 starts) for the Kings this season and he is averaging 21.3 minutes, 8.5 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game. Casspi has been a deadeye from the floor so far for the Kings shooting 56%. 22-year old power forward Jon Brockman has played in 7 games (0 starts) so far for the Kings this year and he is averaging 8.6 minutes, 2.7 points, 3.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists per game. This looks like a group the Kings can build around.

Sacramento Kings 109, Houston Rockets 100

The Kings hit the boards hard last night outrebounding the Rockets 54-35 and that was the big reason for the win. Jason Thompson led the way for the Kings last night with 27 points, 11 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 blocked shots. Beno Udrih was solid once again last night with 22 points, 3 rebounds and 4 assists. Tyreke Evans was also solid against the Rockets with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The Kings are off to a surprising 5-4 start to the 2009-2010 NBA season.

Tyreke Evans only shot 5 of 16 from the floor but he still finished up with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Andres Nocioni pitched in with 16 points and 5 rebounds last night.
