The Sacramento Kings have acquired 30-year old SG/SF Marquis Daniels from the Celtics for cash considerations.  Daniels has played in 49 games (0 starts) for the Celtics this season and he averaged 19.1 minutes, 5.5 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.  He has now played in 451 games (113 starts) in his NBA career and he is averaging 22.5 minutes, 8.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.0 steal per game.  Daniels is likely done for the season due to a spinal chord injury but the Kings had to add salary or face a penalty by the NBA.

Sacramento Kings 111, Orlando Magic 105

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Thursday 24 February 2011 at 9:57 pm

The Kings shot 52.5% from the floor and they outrebounded the Magic 42-36 last night which led to a huge road upset over the Magic in Orlando.  The Kings outscored the Magic 32-21 in the 4th quarter to surge to victory last night.  Jermaine Taylor (21 points and 5 rebounds) and Beno Udrih (18 points, 3 rebounds, 10 assists and 3 steals) led the way for the Kings last night.  Jason Thompson really stuffed the stat sheet for the Kings last night with 17 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots.  Samuel Dalembert (17 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocked shots in 27 minutes) and Omri Casspi (13 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals) also pitched in with solid games last night.  The Kings are now 14-41 on the season.

The Sacramento Kings deal Carl Landry to the Hornets

Blogged under Big Kings News,Bloglockers,Comings & Goings,Front Page,General by admin on Thursday 24 February 2011 at 4:15 am

The Sacramento Kings have dealt 27-year old forward Carl Landry to the New Orleans Hornets for 23-year old shooting guard Marcus Thornton and cash.  Landry played in 53 games (16 starts) for the Kings this season and he averaged 26.5 minutes, 11.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.  Landry was in and out of the starting lineup for the Kings this season.  Marcus Thornton has huge potential.  Thornton was in Hornets’ head coach Monty Williams’ Dog House all season long for his defense.  A change of scenery is just what the doctor ordered for him as he is a outstanding offensive player.  Thornton played in 46 games (0 starts) for the Hornets this season and he averaged 16.2 minutes, 7.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.  He has played in 119 games (17 starts) in his first two years in the NBA and he is averaging 22.0 minutes, 11.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game.  Down the road I think this trade is going to look like a steal for the Kings.

Miami Heat 117, Sacramento Kings 97

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Thursday 24 February 2011 at 4:10 am

The Kings didn’t play any D last night as the Heat shot 56.7% from the floor and they were outrebounded 43-34 so the final score shouldn’t shock anyone.  Samuel Dalembert led the way for the Kings last night with 18 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists.  Jason Thompson (13 points and 7 rebounds) and Jermaine Taylor (13 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal) also had decent games for the Kings last night.  Omri Casspi pitched in with 10 points.  The Kings are now 13-41 on the year.

The Sacramento Kings will be without Tyreke Evans for at least the next 3 weeks

Blogged under Big Kings News,Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Injuries,Need to step up by admin on Tuesday 22 February 2011 at 10:07 pm

The Sacramento Kings will be without 21-year old shooting guard Tyreke Evans at least the next three weeks as he is getting therapy on a injured foot.  Evans has played in 46 games (all starts) for the Kings so far this year and he is averaging 37.8 minutes, 18.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 1.7 steals per game.  He has been banged up all season long so it’s no surprise that he’s going to miss more time due to his foot.  24-year old Jermaine Taylor and 23-year old Donte Greene will likely see bumps in P.T. as long as Evans is out of action.  Taylor has played in 10 games (2 starts) for the Kings so far this year and he is averaging 13.2 minutes, 5.2 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.  Donte Greene has played in 45 (20 starts) for the Kings this season and he is averaging 17.0 minutes, 6.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game.  The Kings need Taylor & Greene to step up as Evans is the best player the Kings have.

The Sacramento Kings continue to be awful

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General by admin on Tuesday 22 February 2011 at 9:56 pm

The Kings are 13-40 on the season which has them in last place in the Pacific Division, 23 games behind the Lakers.  The Kings are #14 in the Western Conference and they are only 1.5 games ahead of the T-Wolves.  Heck, the Kings are only 4.5 games ahead of the Cavs for the worst record in the NBA.  I have a feeling that the Kings are going to make some deals by this Thursday which might even set them back further.

BIGGEST SURPRISE:  27-year old rookie point guard Pooh Jeter worked his way up through the D-League.  He has been playing decent basketball off the bench for the Kings this year.  Jeter has played in 40 games (1 start) for the Kings so far this year and he is averaging 15.5 minutes, 4.5 points, 1.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.  He looks like a keeper for the Kings off the bench in the future.

BIGGEST DISAPPOINTMENT:  27-year old forward Carl Landry is the most likely player to be moved by the Kings at the trade deadline.  He just isn’t tough enough for the style of basketball that head coach Paul Westphal want to play.  He has played in 53 games (16 starts) so far this season for the Kings and he is averaging 26.5 minutes, 11.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game.

Dallas Mavericks 116, Sacramento Kings 100

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Game Recaps,General by admin on Thursday 17 February 2011 at 8:48 pm

The Kings didn’t play any D last night as the Mavericks shot 55.6% from the floor and it did them in.  Jermaine Taylor led the way for the Kings with 17 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and 1 blocked shot in 39 minutes on the floor in a very rare start.  DeMarcus Cousins (16 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots), Beno Udrih (16 points, 1 rebound, 7 assists and 2 steals) and Donte Greene (16 points, 1 rebound, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot in 23 minutes) also had solid games last night for the Kings.  Samuel Dalembert pitched in with 10 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals in this game.  The Kings are now 13-40 on the year.

The Kings didn’t play any D yesterday as the Thunder shot 50% from the floor and that did them in.  DeMarcus Cousins led the way for the Kings last night with 21 points, 13 rebounds, 1 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots in 29 minutes off the bench.  Omri Casspi (14 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal) and Pooh Jeter (13 points, 1 rebound, 7 assists and 1 steal in 39 minutes off the bench).  Jason Thompson (10 points), Beno Udrih (10 points) and Donte Greene (10 points) also pitched in last night.  The Kings are now 13-39 on the year.
