The Sacramento Kings want to deal J.J. Hickson this week

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Need to step up by admin on Tuesday 13 March 2012 at 2:56 pm

23-year old power forward J.J. Hickson looked like a player on the rise for the Cavaliers last year.  That’s why the Kings were giddy to acquire him in a deal before the lockout for Omri Casspi and a future first round pick.  Hickson has been such a huge disappointment for the Kings that they would likely be willing to deal him for pennies on a dollar this week.  Hickson has played in 34 games (9 starts) for the Kings so far this year and he is averaging 18.8 minutes, 4.9 points, 5.1 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.  He is only shooting 37.2% from the floor and 63.8% from the free throw line so far this year.

UPDATE:  (3/19/2012) – The Kings have bought out J.J. Hickson.  Hickson played in 35 games (9 starts) for the Kings this year and he averaged 18.4 minutes, 4.7 points, 5.1 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game.  I don’t think he will be out of work too long.

Isaiah Thomas is leading the way for the rookies on the Sacramento Kings this year

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Rookie Report by admin on Wednesday 7 March 2012 at 12:39 am

23-year old point guard Isaiah Thomas was the last pick overall in the NBA Draft (#60) last June.  That hasn’t mattered as he has been by far the best of the three players the Kings took in that draft.  Thomas has played in 37 games (9 starts) for the Kings so far this year and he is averaging 21.0 minutes, 9.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.  In his 9 starts, Thomas is averaging 32.3 minutes, 15.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.0 steal per game.  Look for Thomas to keep his starting gig as long as he keeps playing like he is right now.  23-year old shooting guard Jimmer Fredette has been a bust so far this year.  He has played in 34 games (6 starts) for the Kings so far this year and he is averaging 19.7 minutes, 7.9 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.  Fredette is only shooting 38.5% from the floor and until that improves, I don’t see him seeing a bump in P.T.  21-year old forward Tyler Honeycutt hasn’t played enough for me to have an opinion on him.  He has played in 4 games (0 starts) for the Kings so far this year and he is averaging 2.3 minutes, 1.0 point and 0.5 rebounds per game.
